Searching by prefix and level
Sample search: You need to take a biology course that is at the 5000-level during the Fall 2004 semester. You are a main campus (Tallahassee) student and you want to see all offerings, regardless of whether they are currently open or not.
1. In the "Course field", type BSC5. BSC is the prefix and "5" is the level.
2. In the "Year - Term" field, select "Fall 2004" from the pull-down list. You may display the pull-down list by clicking on the "down arrow" next to the field. Note: the "Year - Term" pull-down menu lists several options. You may search for offerings in the future or the past as needed.
3. The course location field defaults to "FSU Main Campus." Leave this as it appears. Note: if you are interested in offerings at other locations, click the "down arrow" and select from the list.
4. Click in the box "Show Open Sections Only". This will remove the checkmark. By doing this, you will return a list of all courses, whether or not they have seats available. Note: this field automatically will carry the checkmark. Leaving this checkmark in the box will return only a list of classes with seats available. If all sections are closed, no courses will be displayed.
5. You screen should look like Figure 1 (below). If it does not, make the necessary adjustments and then click the "Search" button.

Your requested list of 5000-level biology classes taught in Fall 2004 will look similar to Figure 2 (below).

Some departments have mandatory attendance policies that apply to every course or select courses offered by that department. If a department has this policy, a statement will appear directly above the first course listing, next to the department name (Figure 2). Any additional comments provided by the department offering the course will appear on the next row, directly under the course section to which it applies (Figure 2).
From this screen, you may click on the section number of each course you are interested in to read the course description, obtain information about distance learning delivery methods (if appropriate for that section) and other general comments provided by the departments, i.e., honors only, majors only, fieldwork required, etc.
Clicking on the building abbreviation link will display a section of the campus map where the building is located.
To refine your search or to begin a new one, from this point, click your "Back" button and enter new information in the search criteria selection screen.
